Originally our daughter had them, and they were Raphy and Squirt, but we decided that we didnt like that and we were reading the Dr. Suess book Yertle the Turtle to the Grandbabies and decided since it made them laugh, we were going to name them after the book!

I have one male RES, it's name is "Migha echeghiigha" .. an Arabic name in English letters, it means Migha the evil! :p

Raphael. When i first rescued him, we put him in a styrofoam cooler and he kept climbing up the sides. My buddies little girl said he was a ninja. Ninja Turtle... Red Ears... RAPHAEL!!

My turtles name are bruce and peter. I named them that when I got them but now I think peters a girl so
I've been thinkin of changing the name but I already got used to the name peter.

I found one and gave to my son on Friday for his birthday on Saturday. I just ASSumed it was Yertle, but my son insisted on Daniel. Recent learning has me thinking it should really be Danielle. . .

I used to have two RES. They were named Bud and Lou after Abbott and Costello. They've got to be over 5 years old now.

Bud grew much more quickly than Lou. They had a dispute, and had to be separated.

When I moved to Brooklyn the other month I had to give Bud to my sister. He had been in a 150 gallon tank... no way was that coming to Brooklyn. So now it's just me and Lou

Hi, I just found this wonderful site, and am the newest member

so happy to have found this place. I've been a turtle mom for 3 weeks now, to a 1 1/2 inch yellow belly slider. Idk if its m/f yet, but I named him toulouse, so I hope its a boy. Lol! Jut bought him gravel today, but saw that is bad, so will be removing in the morning. It is bigger than his head right now, but just to be sure. I know its sups supposed to be illegal in the states to buy a turtle under 4 inches but I bought him at my local pet shop. Only thing I don't like is the pet shops trying to take all my money on death traps... so unhelpful. But now I have this site, so thank you very much. So happy to be a member! :mrgreen:
