Hi I'm a current RES owner along with my mom dad and sister. I'm very concerned for my turtle. I've had him for a year or two or about three years now. I'm worried because today he was blinking hard and strangely. Also he blew a lot of bubbles out of his mouth and when he'd swim he'd lean a lot to his side. I'm scaring myself by reading all of these other sites and worrying this might be worse then I thought but I only saw it today. I need advice and help please. I don want to scared sister with this or tell my parents when this may not be a big deal at all. Please help. Thank you. :)

I'm not sure about the blinking, but the rest of it sounds like a possible respiratory infection. What are your temperatures? Also, some pictures would help.

Keep an eye out for nose bubbles, breathing through the mouth when basking and that leaning to the side.
A bubble here and there just happens sometimes, but if it is going on throughout the day, it is cause for concern.
As for the leaning, sometimes it is hard to tell if they are just making a turn or divng, but if it is consistently lopsided that is a big problem.
So lots of bubbles or lopsided, go to a vet and get him checked for a respitory infection.
Bump up the water temp to 80 degrees, and if he is having trouble swimming, you may need to lower the water level to prevent drowning (this usually comes into play if they are really sick and too weak to swim to the top for air).
Is he eating and basking and acting normal otherwise?

Did all those symptoms occur at the same time? Can you tell us more about the turtle habitat?
