okay heres what happen about a month ago we got a second turt.. a baby.. put him in a 10gallon tank half way filled with water, basking temp 80-85 water temp 75-80, he has a uva light and goes out once a day for a hour or so for uvb. ( our other is in another tank) any way a few days ago i noticed his eyes were swollen shut, mouth open and he was sleeping a lot as well as not eatting so i thought.. great here we go to the vets office.. in the mean time i bumped everything up!!! and found out he would eat blood worms... but nothing else..

any ways... this moring i wake and find him eyes up mouth closed basking... i dropped in blood worms, stawberry, and lettuce.. he ate them down like there was no tommrow..!!! ( don't ask me i am hoping that before just a eye infection with him being mad every time we picked him up so he hissed)..

any ways.. this is important to know cause when we picked him up his shell was so soft..... i still plan to take him to the vet tommrow but is there something i can do in the mean time to help build back his shell??( while he was sick we didn't want to take him outside and that was for about a week)[/code]

First how big is he? shell length not couning the curve.
How warm did you bump the temperatures to?
Do you feed a calcium supplement (a powder or cuttlebone?)
The UVB you speak of, Is it sunlight?
Will he eat turtle sticks at all?
Did you notice anything besides the swollen eyes?
Such as bubbles from nose or mouth?

he's a hachling. maybe between a month and two months old.. ( tiny tiny little guy the smaller then a quarter) we got him the start of this month and he was 2-3 weeks old at the time.

bumped the water temp to 82 and the basking to 90. he still ate and didn't show any other sings of ri other then the swollen eyes.. wich seem to have gone away ( i been checking all day) no yawning, no bubbles no swimming to the side none of that..

but his shell is soooooooooooooo soft... i know babys have a soft shell but this is like 3x softer then normal. the only thing he will eat is blood worms.. today he downed some stawberrys but for the most part shows no desire in any other food.

his mate that was never put in the same tank yet will eat anything though... and i am hoping soon he starts...

babies do have very soft shells, What I would do at this point is roll the strawberries and blood worms in calcium powder, I would also try to feed turtle sticks (Reptomin baby) moisten them with canned tuna water roll in calcium powder let dry and then feed them to the baby.. Keep the temps where they are at. And Good Luck!
