Hey, all.

Been a while since I posted. I hope everyone is well. I don't know if this counts as urgent but Cecil has a broken nail. I didn't see it happen and I don't know when it happened. Sometime in the past month. I do tank maintenance once a month and today was the day and I found a partial nail in the tank. I checked and it's from her back foot. It's broken about halfway down. I'm guessing she caught it on her platform.

Any treatment advice? This has never happened before.

As a reminder, Cecil is a RES, female, around 35 years old, 7 pounds, in a 90 gallon tank, eats mostly greens at this point with some pellets, and I use a canister filter. She has all appropriate lighting and heating elements.

Thanks in advance!

Did you also ask on the FB page?

She should be fine. As long as it's not bleeding or discolored, there really isn't much to do. It should also grow back.

Yes, that was me. I wasn't sure how active the page was so I posted in both places just to be safe. Thank you so much for the reply. It's not bleeding and it looks fine as far as I can tell. I just got worried because it's never happened before. Thank you!

You're welcome! I would think it might have been caught on something if it were to break in the middle like that.
