why do turtles open and close their mouths when theyre under water? im just curious.

You notice your own turtle do this? Sometimes they open them up wide, sometimes they just make little gulping movements.

Mine does it to almost like she's panting underwater. Usually it's when she's frantically begging for food, but it's only the big girl that does it the most. The two smaller males don't do it as much.
