Are there any herp vets who will adopt a turtle. Recently, maybe about 2 days ago, someone gave me a turtle, i believe he is a eastern painted turtle, who is in really bad shape. I myself have a turtle. But unfortunately i cannot keep him because it would too much money for my parents.
i feel really bad but i cannot keep him. I think the turtle has shell rot since the shell stinks and he was sores on his fore and back legs. Does anyone have any advise on what i should do.

Where are you located? Try to find a reptile rescue or re-homing agency. There's a link to them on the site. Is the turtle wild? You could also look for a licensed wildlife rehabilitator through your state environmental protection agency.

I live in new jersey. No the turtle isn't wild but its obvious that its previous owner knew absolutely nothing about turtle care.

Try the places at this link for starters: www.anapsid.org/societies/newjersey.html

You also should try www.turtlehomes.org
