And when you get back, you can get a timer from the hardware store. You can get a perfectly good one for around $5. I got mine at Lowes. That way you won't have to worry about the light cycle either when you are home or when you are away.

lol i dont think they can survive there in the wild and i dont think i can survive there in the winter way to cold

They couldn't survive there, summer or winter. At least not where I lived when I was in Alaska. I lived there for three years and we had two days (total) of temps in the 60's. It was the best 'summer' ever!
