Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

my little res that got stuck in the turtle dock has passed away. Thanks to the staff at U of Penn. Emergency dept. I took johnny in after he got stuck he was moving around but had trouble opening his eyes and lifting his head. They said it was a lack of vitamin A that made him so weak not getting stuck. They also said he was too small to give a antibiotic shot to. he passed this morning. I took my other turtle to a vet today who once worked at U of Penn and he said after looking at johnny that his eyes were swollen because of his neck being stuck not lack of Vitamin A and that they could have given him a shot but that it would have been a pain in the butt for them to do it. so thats why they gave me the liquid antibiotic to give him which was impossible to get he to eat. The vet said he may have survived had he got the shots he needed.

So sorry for your loss. It is really hard when you lose one especially when they are so young but you have to remember it wasn't your fault and don't blame yourself.
