General Care Discussion :: Dump Question

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Mon Sep 17, 2007 3:42 pm   Dump Question

What should my water temp be? I have a 3in RES. Also what should the basking air temp be.

I have had my turtle for a few months but am still working on becoming a better turtle parent. I bought a UVA, UVB light today and thermometers for the air and water.

The air is reading just below 90F and the water at 83F.

Thanks

Water should be around 75 - 78 degrees, ambient air temp around high 70's, low 80's. The basking area should be at around 88 - 90 degrees.

Is there an actual UVB rating on your bulb? 5.0, 8.0, 10.0? If not, you got ripped. Some of them advertise UVB, but if they don't give you the rating, that means its worthless, not enough to enough measure.
