Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So, I've had my turtle since August 28th, and he/she usually hides when my fiancee and I are in the room, or likes to hide behind the filter or in his/her cave. Lately, he/she has been very outgoing. Coming to the front of the tank and just stays there swimming, he/she will follow my finger around the glass, where as before he/she would swim away. Is this unusual? Or is my turtle just starting to get comfortable?

Yes it's normal. Isn't it neat? Eventually, if you and your turtle have a good relationship, you can take him/her out of the tank and he/she will actually follow you around like a dog sometimes. Depending on their individual personality, some turtles get quite friendly. Some are more shy.
