General Care Discussion :: New buddies...

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Sat Sep 29, 2007 6:33 pm   New buddies...

Hey everyone!! Internet's been down for a while so I've been lost for the past week... But now I'm back, and with friends!! Yesterday Tortarita got two new tank buddies... Red a pleco and Ghost (dont know exactly what type of fish he is...) I bought them because the tank was growing some algea here and there and I wanted to see if these fishies could help with the clean up... Dont worry Tortarita is Freaked out of Red, the pleco, he's kinda big!! I bought both fish because of there size thinking Tortarita would be intimidiated by them and wouldn't mess with them... But he's still chasing around ghost!! I can't believe it, Ghost is a speedy one so he's staying a mile away but still... Well here's some pics..

this is ghost...

The fish are beautiful. I especially love ghost's shell pink color. I hope he is able to stay ahead of Tortarita.

Well, all is going GREAT... :-D

Thanx everyone for your comments! Red is awesome, the pleco, and he's pretty big about 5-6 inches long... I think Tortarita is kinda scared of it because when she gets near Red opens his fins which have spots of red on them making him look bigger... But he's already clean the glass and some pebbles of all algea and poop... And for Ghost WOW-WEE!!!! I didn't expect him to clean as well as he does!! I have a pretty big sized rock in the aqaurium which was covered in this slimy algea type thing that was hard to clean off, but in less then a couple of hours Ghost had already "pecked" or rather "sucked" it all up. He looked like he was french kissing the rock eating the algea off. It's awesome and Tortarita got use to it being there... She stopped chasing him around the tank, thank goodness!!!

Very nice fish!!! Make sure you put algae wafers in the tank, after they eat up all your algae. Wouldn't want to starve the poor things!!! :D

Cute fish. I'm pretty sure Ghost is a kissing gourami. We used to have a couple in the fish tank at work, they are pretty speedy fish. Good luck with them!

yeah octpusgirl8, that explains why he seems to be kissing everything!!! He kisses the rocks, the glass, even tortarita if she stays still enough. (which freaks her out!!) But yeah so far so good, and runninwideopen Red's doing pretty good, he's bigger then Tortarita, and she's freaked out by him. So i think he'll survive, but I'll keep an eye on them either way. :) Thanx!!
