General Care Discussion :: Do NOT BUY ANYTHING from T U R T L E S A L E . C O M !!!!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Thu Oct 04, 2007 8:40 am   Do NOT BUY ANYTHING from T U R T L E S A L E . C O M !!!!

Sorry Steve, but this has got to be handled properly and hiding their name on this forum only prevents people from knowing how bad they are.

T U R T L E S A L E . C O M regularly sells sick and dying turtles and they do not care one bit about them or their customers! Far too many people who have ordered from them have received sick, dying or dead (yes, DEAD ON ARRIVAL!!!) turtles. It's not just RES but other more exotic turtles too. Baby turtles are usually on death's door while the more expensive adult turtles are usually wild-caught or farm raised from very poor conditions. This is evident by their poor shell condition including but not limited to shell-rot, fungus, open sores, holes, scars, etc.

Every customer who had complained to them has been verbally abused. They insist on having the sick or dead turtle shipped back to them at the customer's expense, and they will only send you a replacement which is usually another sick, dead or dying turtle. They will not give refunds and they will keep playing this game until you finally give up. Many customers, concerned for the health of the turtle, went to a vet immediately after receiving their turtle not knowing what was wrong. Upon learning how sick the turtle was, they requested reimbursement from T U R T L E S A L E . C O M for the vet treatments but were instead told to return the animal for replacement. This has been especially gut wrenching for the customer knowing that if they send the animal back, it will either die in shipment, be resold to some other unsuspecting customer, or just left to die in miserable conditions. The only other option is to keep the animal and to try to nurse it back to health at great cost to themselves in both time and money. Half the time the poor turtle dies anyway because of the horrible conditions that it came from at T U R T L E S A L E . C O M !!

DO NOT SUPPORT THEM!! More and more reptile forums are beginning to take a stand against them. They are very savvy business people who have been able to use Google Advertising to display their banners across many commercial reptile websites, misleading people into thinking that they are endorsed by the site. They are profitting off the misery and suffering of hundreds if not thousands of turtles. Do NOT buy ANYTHING from them. Do NOT give them your BUSINESS. And by all means, PLEASE LET OTHERS KNOW...

Wow, isn't there anything we can do about it, besides not buying from them? :(

There have been other posts that have fallen by the wayside about contacting their domain server and notifying them of their unethical business and moral practices hopefully to get them to pull their registration. PETA is actively trying to track them down and take action but they have been unsuccessful so far. Other forums are also trying to take some kind of action too. I've emailed them and got a very business-like response saying "unfortunately you have been fooled by false stories..." or something like that.

Mods, please do not delete this thread or lock it again. This really needs to be addressed in an effective manner so others who come here don't make the same mistake. :?

Okay, here is the information that Skadica got regarding T U R T L E S A L E . C O M and a possible way to at least temporarily shut them down...

Skadica wrote:This is a repost because I wanted more people to respond and fight.

I did the research to find out who owned the domain name, and there is fine print that no one reads but it states something along the lines saying that they have the right to shut down your site for any number of things, and what the turtle site is doing is one of those things.

If we go to Domains by Proxy, Inc. and tell them about the site and that we are going to go the the Federal Trade Commission about the site. They should pull out of the site and shut it down. Then we go to the guys that made the site... www.mousecount.com and tell them the same thing, that way when they get a new domain name they will have to look for a new site builder.

But First we have to go to Domains by Proxy at www.DomainsByProxy.com they will not want to have anything to do with that site, after we tell they we will go the the Federal Trade Commission, we may not have to but we can if they don't take the site off.

That is my plan.

I hope anyone who has bought from that site, will contact Domains by Proxy, and Mouse Count. That site can be stopped.

Thanks.

Okay, thanks! I forwarded that onto PETA.

I've also contacted DomainsByProxy and filed the following complaint with them as well...

I would like to inform you that one of your customers, turtlesale [not reputable].COM (aka Seltrut, Inc.), is involved in the cruel mistreatment, abuse, neglect of living animals and the profit therefrom. They regularly sell sick and dying turtles. Far too many people who have ordered from them have received sick, dying or dead (yes, DEAD ON ARRIVAL) turtles. Baby turtles are usually the sickest while the more expensive adult turtles are usually wild-caught or farm raised from very poor conditions. This is evident by their poor shell condition including but not limited to shell-rot, fungus, open sores, holes, scars, etc.

Every customer who has complained to them has been verbally abused. Upon learning how sick the turtle was, they requested reimbursement from turtlesale [not reputable].COM for the vet treatments but were instead told to return the animal for replacement. Half the time the poor turtle dies anyway because of the horrible conditions that it came from at turtlesale [not reputable].COM!

They are profitting off the misery and suffering of hundreds if not thousands of turtles. I request that you please revoke their registration and to not allow them your legitimate business any further. There are others who are also seeking to contact the Federal Trade Commission in regards to this immoral business. If you require further evidence or proof of what I have written, you can do a search on their domain name and you will see the negative accounts from many of their customers on the various forums online. Here are a couple of discussion threads regarding their poor business and ethical practices...

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/ ... hp?t=98163
http://www.turtleforum.com/forum/upload ... opic=63951

For a while even their own sponsored forum contained discussions from their disgruntled customers and their accounts were really horrendous. Even their own forum moderators were voicing their disgust at the company. They were finally deleted from their forum and the moderators were replaced. They are definitely an immoral and unethical company and I really hope you will do your part to help shut them down. Thank you.

This topic is being locked. We keep seeing the same 'argument' over and over again. If anyone wants to use the info that has ALREADY been posted and try to do something about it, more power to you.

There is a reason the name has been blocked from this site, and that needs to be respected. Starting a topic with 'Sorry Steve' doesn't get anyone off the hook.

Any new topics mentioning this site will be deleted.
