I've read up on the UVB and UVA sources on the forum, and I'd just like some quick advice on the following bulbs. I'd like to get my YBS a basking lamp and there's a number of options. She gets quite a bit of sunlight everyday, which seems to be enough, but now that the weather is slightly changing for the worse, I thought I'd invest in a lamp, just in case ;)
I was thinking of purchasing the Exo Terra Sun Glo...

there's a few there...thanks!

I'm not familiar with that brand. I've heard a lot of good stuff about the Repti Sun. Whatever you get, get a 5.0 or higher

The Sun Glo lamps will not provide UVB. They're for heat and I believe will provide UVA but not UVB.

Unfortunately the one type of lamp you really need does not seem to be on the list. Assuming you want a bulb to fit into a regular fixture (as opposed to a tube fixture) what you need is a Repti Glo. The site you provided is advertising some Repti Glo tube fluorescents but not the compact fluorescents.

A good bulb would be an Exo Terra Repti Glo 5.0 26 watt compact fluorescent bulb. Why don't you do a search and see if you can find one that will deliver one of those in the UK.

If you can't find that specific bulb, the characteristics you should look for are (1) needs to be a compact fluorescent (2) wattage will be around 25 or 26 watts (3) should specify at least 5.0 for UVB.

Hi, found the following seems like the perfect thing...thanks....;)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Exo-Terra-REPTI-G ... dZViewItem

(((....It is recommended to combine a high UVB output (Repti Glo 5.0 and 10.0) with a very high visual light output (Repti Glo 2.0) for optimal results. Fluorescent bulbs do not provide sufficient heat. A separate heat source is required in addition (ex: incandescent basking lamp)....)product description)

Does that state that therefore this bulb does both jobs at one, as its not a fluorescent...or that it still requires another heat bulb.....sorry just a little confusing....

Thanks again ;)

That's the correct bulb in the link.
UVB alone won't encourage basking, the heat from the UVA light is what gets turtles out of the water to bask.
Both the UVA and UVB should mimic a natural day cycle (10-12 hours on), you can buy a timer so that they just automatically turn on and off.

i tried using the exo terra sun glo, it was not a good bulb (ended up buying a different kind) it only got a little warm (not warm enough for basking) and doesnt give off uvb. no one should buy the sun glo its garbage.

It's fairly common to use a 5.0 or 10.0 UVB for UVB and a house bulb for heat. I for example use the reptiglo 5.0 for UVB and a 100W housebulb to keep my basking dock at ~90F.
