General Care Discussion :: Water Smell

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I upgraded my tank yesterday to a tank that is twice the size of the old one. The old one was fron when the turtles were babies and it was getting very small. Anyways, the old tank didn't ever have a problem with smell. It didn't even have a filter, I just changed the water everyday. Now with the new tank, I picked up a filter with it, and its only been one day and the tank smells terrible. Any ideas to help get the smell to go away?

Activated charcoal is supposed to absorb odorous or coloured substances from a liquid (or gases). If you don't have any in the filter, I'd suggest that.
