I noticed a few times when I was feeding my turtle, there might be some food float over to her front paws, and she would take a bite of the food but ended up biting herself too :( , after she bit herself she wouldn't open her mouth to let go, has anyone seen their turtle do this before? they don't usually open their mouth once they get a hold of something doesn't it? should I watch out for it? I'm just worried :( Thanks

I'm pretty sure she'd feel the pain before she could do serious injury.

What was she eating when she did that? My RES has appeared to be biting his claws when he got a piece of carrot speared on them. I wouldn't worry if it's only happened a few times, though. She just sounds like she had a bad aim. :)

What else do you feed your RES? Does she ever seem to bit at herself when there's no food around?
