General Care Discussion :: Two quick questions...

Hey everyone!

I have just two quick questions:

1. My RES seems to hate my air pump. He doesnt seem to like when I have it running. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this?

2. I bought one of those tank neutralizers, the ones in the pet stores that look like a turtle and dissolve in the water. Well he likes to chew and I assume eat little bits of it. I know it's calcium enriched and that calcium (D3) is a must for turtles. I just wanna make sure its alright for him to be eating.

Hello,
1. By air pump do you mean a bubble stone? If your RES doesn't like it just take it out I suppose.

2. Those are sulfa blocks, and it's best not to have them in the tank. What happens is that your turtle develops a high tolerance for sulfa and then when you actually need it to help with something like a shell problem it will be ineffective.

Yeah, I was referring to the air stone. I just thought it was kinda weird, thats why I asked. I just wanted to know if anyone else turts didn't like having them in the tank as well.

I took the tank neutralizer out. I know what your saying. It makes very good sense.
