General Care Discussion :: might a RES eat a frog?

I've noticed my RES love taking bites out of the feeder goldfish. I've never witnessed it, but every day there seems to be a new chunk missing out of the goldfish tails.
a few days ago I fished out (pun intended) a goldfish who's head was bitten clean off.
anyways, I had a land frog in there for months. He was very healthy and ate regularly. It's not a tree frog, so he didn't do climbing at all. he just liked sitting around for the most part.
One day he was gone though. I really doubt he escaped because the only opening is in the front of the tank and there's only water there. I can't see him leaping a good 7 inches straight up out of the water.
the only other option is that the 2 turtles ate him.
Anyone else experience anything like this?

Off topic just a bit, my turtles refuse to go on the land at all. I put them there and they dart back in the water. They DO like sitting up on the floating log, but whenever they see a person approaching they hit the water again.
I suppose it'll take time for them to get used to humans?

Turtles will eat anything that lives with them, whether its a fish, frog, snail, whatever. Size doesn't matter either, if a turtle can't eat the fish whole he'll take chunks out of it.
A lot of people on here have put expensive fish in with their turtles to find them "missing" soon afterwards.
The only things that should be put with turtles are feeder fish and the occasional snail, and those are both expected to be eaten. Any other fish you add is really an expensive feeder fish.

As for the basking, it sounds like they're shy. How long have you had them?

Well I do have a medium sized shovelnose catfish in there and, like i said in another post, the turtles ignore him completely.
They also ignore the few feeder goldfish which managed to grow rather large. They won't even peck at their tails. The smaller feeders though are losing tails constantly.
I think as long as there are smaller fish available, they'll ignore the bigger ones.

I've had the turtles for about 2 months now. We've had turtles before though and they weren't this shy.
