Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hello all!
Today "Maya" went to the vet! I found out she is a he!

The past owner cut his nails !! I think a name change is in order.
Well as for his shell the vet think it's from a past infection do to trauma or dog attack. she told me just to keep him in warmer water and give him lots of good food and he will fine!
thats all for my update ... I need to go think of a manly turtle name!!
crap all my animals are boy! their now a grand total of 5 males in my house

Maya was such a pretty name too!

Glad the vet trip went well-- the nice thing about having a boy is that they're smaller and you never have to deal with that exhausting egg laying :-).
He's quite hardy to have survived such a shell injury.
Now that his tank is all fixed up, a good diet and warm temps will have him looking pretty handsome in a few sheds.

I did love name.
But I was really worried about egg laying, so I'm happy i don't have to deal with that.
I think he needs a strong name for a strong RES!

Big surprise for you. :) From what the vet said, it sounds like with a little time and improved diet and living conditions, your RES will be just fine. (Keep the water super clean---bacteria grows more quickly in warmer water.)

Ah great name! It's aquatic and godly, the perfect mix for such a strong RES.
I can't wait to see him once he's all cleaned up :-)

Great name for a super turtle. Glad to hear he's doing well. He deserves a good home and good health - finally.
