Those are great pics!! To be a lot more sure though, could you add pics of their front nails? Based off these I'd say the left one is possibly male, they right I'm not sure. How old/big are they?

How old are they? I'd say #1 is a male, #2 I'm not so sure....

True, but if they are under 4", it could be a close call. When Gomie was under 4", I coulda sworn she was a he....long nails and tail! Her nails still seem awfully long for a female.

I don't know. I am going out on a limb here, but from the tails I (IMO) would guess two males. :)

Turtle 1 is definitely a boy, no question. Turtle 2....how long is the shell? Early guess would be a boy, but measure the shell and let us know.

Also, do either of your turtles have abnormally long front claws yet? If so, then it is a dead giveaway. Super long front claws (like Wolverine) are a definite sign of a boy.

S. lavender -- I am inclined to think that number one is a male, if both are of the same age. It would be helpful if you would photograph the front claws. They use them in the mating ritual -- process. b.

I'd say a male for the one on the left, and if the cloaca is where I think it is on the other one, a male as well. (The shell lengths without the curves are really 4"?)
