General Care Discussion :: How do they know?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Yesterday I did my weekly water change in my 75 gallon tank. It usually takes me about 30 minutes to change the water and clean up. While I'm at it I use my Python to clean up any poop, dirt, or uneaten food on the bottom of the tank.

Yesterday, I had just finished the water change, cleaned up the bathroom and washed my hands when Bebe decided it would be a great time to let out a huge poop and spread it out all over the tank.

I was a bit frsutrated, but decided to net it out. I did so and had just washed up again when Butters decided it would be a great time to poop!

It seems to me that this kind of thing happens way too often for it to be a coincidence. If I could get into those little turtle brains I'm certain I would find they are laughing their little butts off.

My snakes are the same way. I've had to clean both tanks 3 times each in two days...It's enough to make you crazy! Sometimes I think they know exactly what they're doing

N47 -- You must have a large tank. The two FX5s pump 1800 gph and must cause quite a swril. How large is your tank?

It is a 240 gallon. The reason I have two is because the tank is so long(six feet to be exact), And I also use two fine foam filter pads in each, which decreases the flow substantially. Although, they do get a ride if they swim in front of the outputs, if you know what I mean.
