I don't know what's wrong with Toutolina, but she keeps twitching her head and scratching at her neck. She seems restless at times. Any idea why?

And what are those hairy looking things on her skin when she's in the water?

On the itch -- Sometimes they do that when their eyes in the beginning stages of RI. Take a good look at his eyes. -- On the hairy things on the skin If you would post a photo would be helpful. Need to know turtle size, tank size, filter brand and size, lighting, temperature, etc.

Are the hairy things wispy and tranlucent? It sounds like she might be shedding, which is itchy work. If she is rubbing her face while basking, it's pretty common for a shedding turtle. Is she showing any other interesting behavior aside from the rubbing and twitching?

Is she twitching and scratching when she's in the water or when she's basking? On the hairy things - do you now what shedding skin looks like? What's her water temp?

My turtle is often scratching herself when she gets up on the basking dock & her skin is very dry. Reptile skin gets very itchy when it is dry so if she just looks like she is scratching, then that is what it is.

Thin wispy stuff is usually just a sign that her skin is shedding. That's normal.

Thank you all! It must be that's she's shedding then! I'm looking at it now and the "hairy" things are in the water and there is no more itching. THANKS :)
