I'm just curious, do female turtles lay eggs even if its not fertilized like chickens do?

oh, and one more question... can RESs drown? (besides getting trapped under something) im just worried about that because one of my turtle doesn't seem like a very good swimmer. or maybe she's just scared and not familiar with her new tank..

Yes, the female turtles will lay eggs without a male and they won't be fertilized.

And yes, RES can drown if they get trapped under something but I've never heard of them drowning otherwise. Little ones sometimes get tired of swimming and then you need to provide a resting place for them - something like a plastic plant that reaches to the top of the water is good.
