Is there anything you can use to get the algae off?? I have tried the toothbrush thing more than once and I can't get it off. He looks really bad. His shell is really green, with algae that is! :D

I'd try some warm water with a very fine brush - remeber, scrub very very lightly!

Also, i'll throw something in the open but make sure you get the okay from one of our more experienced members first - You could possibly try anti-bacterial soap, in very small amounts. Make sure its scentless and it's anti bacterial. But please, wait for a response from someone likes SpotsMama before trying this.

TANEE - To get off the algae off I use a toothbrush with warm salty water. Use warm table salt and brush it off. Leave the saltwater on him and let him dry off. Let him dry for a couple of hours and brush him off again and the algae should come off. Mine comes off with one application. Give it a try. Make sure that your turtle is warm while you are drying him off.
