How long does it take for the scutes to actually come off? I feel as is Murphy's scutes have been ready to fall off for a month now but none have.

There's no real time table but how often he basks can have an affect. It's best to leave it alone and it will shed when it's ready.

It might help if you let him out to run around and dry out a little bit. When they are dry more scutes seem to fall off.

The turtle should have a basking area in the tank that he/she can climb up on and get completely dry - top and bottom. When they bask under the heat lamp and UVB bulb, they also dry their shells. Shells have to be allowed to dry off completely at frequent intervals to keep them healthy.

Yep! Don't be tempted to pull the scutes off. They will do it own their own. A good diet and basking will help.
