So,
Any ideas why my turt wants to take bites out of the side of her dock and swallow them?

Do you have one of those styrofoamy ZooMed turtle docks? I've seen people say their turtles eat them. Probably the same reason that turtles eat gravel and sand and anything, which is really unknown. I'd get a plastic dock and maybe some cuttlebone!

I'm gonna try cuttlebone first being that I just dropped twenty some dollars on this dock lol.

Try the cuttlebone. Usually dock eating is a sign that the turtle is looking for extra calcium in their diet.

Really? Thanks for the info megcornell. I tried cuttlebone once before and she didn't seem to want it, but that was back when she was in less than stellar health and with limited activity due to previous owners lack of care. Perhaps she would like some cuttlebone now?

Maybe try clipping the cuttlebone to the edge of the dock?
