i feed my res in the tank he eats turtle stixs right now hes just 7months old. the problem is that the wate gets murky and the filter get dirty fast. anyone have a solution

Start feeding him in a separate container, like a small rubbermaid tank. That's about your only option. What kind of filter do you have? Tank size? You can get a bigger tank with more water, it'll disperse more, or a better filter.

The feeding container? No. You should try to provide water close to the tank temperature, but I think you can just steal tank water. And it's just a little rubbermaid container, like a foot long tops. I'd imagine the smaller, the better. You would only put them in long enough to eat their sticks and probably poo, and send them back in their big tank!

Nope. Just fill the rubbermaid with hand-warm water, drop in the food, put turtle in. He may need some time to get used to eating in a separate pan, but once they get used to this, they don't mind it. I have been doing this with my turtle for 18 yrs. with a lot of success (my turtle is a very messy eater & I used to have the same dirty water problem you do).
