Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hey Everyone! We have another squashi issue...but it has been a while. Squishy has grown double the size of when we first got him and Squashi hasn't grown one bit. I'm starting to get a lil worried now because it's gotten to the point where I have to hand feed her and she just doesnt wanna move some days. Sometimes...she's just crazy and is perfectly fine. I don't know what is going on and I dont know what to do. Any suggestions?

It doesn't sound like healthy turtle behavior. Can you remind us what your setup is like? You might want to take them to the vet for a checkup.

Is Squishy eating Squashi's food? That could explain the lethargic behavior some days and not all days, and the size difference. I would also suggest a vet visit, just because it is so dramatic.

One thing that causes slow or no growth in a turtle is internal parasites. You can take a stool sample to a vet and have it checked. It's not hard for a vet to check a stool sample for parasites and it shouldn't cost much. My vet did the test for around $18.

After your vet visit, I would suggest that you make sure the little one is getting his share. You can hand feed or put him in a feeding tank. If they are both healthy they should grow about the same.
