I'm a little concerned... my turtle is going crazy almost trying to jump out of his tank, acting very different, sort of spazzy

Does anyone know what might be up? We added a heater in his tank and it's at 75 degrees and it's not adjustable. Could this be why he is acting like this?

If you are sure the temp is 75F, then that's not the cause, although I personally don't trust a heater I can't control. Is he kicking with his back legs? Is he eating and basking like before? Does he do this spazz thing just after he eats or all the time?
The only thing I can think of, off the top of my head, is that he is a she, and may be gravid.....

The heater is unadjustable, but I have a digital tank thermometer with it's sensor in the water and it reads around 75F +- 1 degree. The turtle almost appears scared and scampers to the corner behind his tree/bush thing. Normally he is swimming like mad against the glass trying to get closer to me when I come in the room. I'm not sure what's wrong. The things that have changed are the water temp is about 3 degrees warmer and we made his water a bit deeper and added an extra flat piece of rock to raise his basking rock. I was watching him today when nobody was home through a webcam, and he was swimming back and forth and later was basking. Normal turtle activities I would guess.

Sounds like he's just begging.....perfectly normal to claw at the glass to get your attention when you walk in the room.

Cd-- Looks like you have a normal turtle. Some get excited or go into the survival mode when they are approached or after being quiet for a while and somthing changes all of a sudden. Any viabration movement that is new for the day will set them off.

When installing our webcam we put it on a box that you can see a reflection in. We think this is what caused our turtle to act this way. Maybe he/she thought it was another turtle. He is better today, box is taken away.
