ok if this sounds a bit dumb, don't comment on it being dumb lol. Today I was cleaning my tank and I heard my RES making a cry noise, it shocked me, I quickly ran over and looked, she was looking up with her mouth open making thing cry noise lol. Is this normal???

No, it is NOT normal. It is a symptom of a serious RI. When they have to open there mouths to breath like that, it means that it is very hard to breath. YOU NEED TO GET HIM TO A HERP VET ASAP!! It will not fix itself, and you can't treat it on your own. Unless you take him into see a herp vet, he will just get worse, and worse until he dies.

Yes I agree, That is not normal. You need to get him to a herp vet as soon as you possibly can or you might loose your turtle. Let us know how you make out with him...

I would suggest that the turtle is gasping for greath. They don't have vocal cords. You may need a vet right away and answer the question about other symptoms.

It doesn't necessarily mean its sick. It could be scared or it could be expelling air. Would be more helpful if you could list any other symptoms if any.

They breath out of their mouths when their nose is stopped up. That is one symptom of RI. What other symptoms does he have if any.
