Umm, just a side note: Don't put algae eaters in
a tank with your res, they go BONKERS!!! I have
a pleco fish and I put a small piece of algae eater
in his cave for him to grub on. Sincere went so crazy
trying to find it he splashed water onto the black light
and broke it. I cleaned my tank out thoroughly, no harm
done. But, WOW  She was itchin for it.

Sounds interesting. What's an algae eater? I thought it was some kind of fish.

Anything you introduce into their habit will become a point of fascination.

Oh definitely!! When I had my pleco I put one of those algae wafers in there and my babies went nuts over them too. I even HID the algae wafers but as soon as I removed my hand from the tank they were down in the bottom digging and moving things trying to find the algae wafer LOL. Pretty entertaining to watch.

What's the matter with algae wafers? I don't have any plecos, but I do have a small bag of wafers for my turts. I occasionally break up a few and toss them in the tank for a bit of variety in their diet. :D

LOL - I can just see them doing that.

My DBT & RES climb the waterfall in the pond to get to all the tasty alge that builds up. The cooter is happy to just eat whatever alge grows down to the water line. I figure it makes a tasty salad for them. :D

Well, I dunno really...but never tried to stop them since I figured it would be a common enough snack in the wild. 2 of mine have been munching pond alge for nearly 2 years w/o a problem (it's one of the very few veggies they'll eat too...the other being water plants)
