one of my turtles tails seems to be getting really thick and I don't remember it being like this.

it seems to be the section before where they go to the bathroom.

should I be worried?

How old is your turtle, and how big is it? If it's an adult and you all of a sudden see a swelling of the tail, there may be an infection or back-up. If you're turtle is a baby and growing then I wouldn't worry.

I agree with Kallistos. If it's an adult then there may be need for concern.
If your turt is young, under 4", then I'd say you have a male on your hands ;)

Pictures would help :)

Sounds like you've got a male. Is the cloaca (anal vent) closer to the tip of the tail than the shell? You should also start to notice the front claws lengthen.
