General Care Discussion :: turtle loves my finger!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

my turtle just bit me! He's so tiny but it actually hurt. I couldn't believe he did that. And I think he did it in a mean way too because he didn't want to come out of his cage.

I also have a question that I've been meaning to post on here..

My cousin had two baby res that she wasn't taking care of at all, so I took them. My parents said they would look out after them but once I come back (I'm away at school) I need to find a new home for them. How can I find a new home? My dad said he has a friend who has a pond in his backyard where he keeps goldfish in and might want them, but would they be safe there? Could I bring them to a local petstore? I would love to keep them but then I would have 3 turtles, and I know they would not get along. My turtle is kinda aggressive when it comes to food, at least he was when I had my other turtle, and my mother said that one of the turtles back at home is aggressive with the other one when it comes to food. So, I know keeping all of them would be a disaster. Any ideas?

Go through all of the adoption channels that you can. They might be safe in the pond as long as it's turtle-proofed and predators can't get them, although they'd need to be brought inside during the cold months if it gets too cold out. You won't be able to take them to a pet store, most likely, because pet stores don't want to risk selling sick or illegal pets. You can also post on here with a location and see if anyone is interested. There's an adoption forum on here too: http://www.turtletimes.com/forums/index.php? Just remember that RES are difficult to relocate quickly, but you might find someone who's interested!
