Do remember that airline rules have become more strict. You are risking your turtle to be confiscated and destroyed, and you risk fines and penalties. There are real warnings in the posts above, and it's not a risk I would take.

Put the turtles in with the damp paper towels and seal the top on with tape. Make sure that you put 4 – ½ inch holes in four sides of the bucket. Then put the minnow bucket in a cardboard box just big enough for the bucket and some packing paper. You want the paper to be loose enough for air to get in but not so loose that the bucket will move around. Put 4 holes in the cardboard box on four sides so the little critters can breath. Put you name and what ever is necessary to get in the luggage compartment. Mark the package as glass and put fragile stickers on. Also make sure that you do not check the box too early as they could sit out in the sun a long period of time. I hope this helps

I advise taking it with you, even if you do put fragile, my dad ended up with a broken cup and lots of broken objects.

I'm sure you don't want broken turtles, ask if you can bring it in the plane, and use the blanket they give you to warm it, and put them it your jacket your wearing to warm them so they don't die.

Mikee-
Did you tell them that you had turtles in them?
And I'm going to ask the airline on what I can do, and try to convince them to let me take them with me on the plane. I'll do whatever it takes for my little fellars.

When marking the package, I would leave off the word glass and just put fragile. If you are questioned later about the contents, you would be able to say that you did not know you couldn't do it. If the word glass is on the package, it will be obvious that you were trying to be sneaky.
