General Care Discussion :: Musk & Mud turtles

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Well, I think i'd like to expand a little bit!

I already have 2 RES's, love em and theyre in great shape.

I've been reading online about the "smallest" turtles, which seem to be Mud turtles and Musk turtles. Does anyone have an experience keeping these? I think i'd like to get one or the other. Also, any idea where to get them?

I think musk turtles have stink glands near there tail. They let off the smell when there afriad. I have heard about mud turtles but nothing about them.

Most people here have RES or painteds. Finding some care sheets and doing a little reading would give you a better idea of what they need for care. Sites that have classified sections, like www.turtletimes.com would probably have links for purchasing, as well as more owners of those species of turtles, who could better advise you about them.

Check with rescues. I may be expanding as well. I wanted a native tortoise but may be ending up with a Box.
