well when i bought the smaller one there was 2. the darker shell was male and the lighter shell was female which is what i was told. and ya my science teacher said no to giving it to him so i still need the 200 gallon tank. and i leave them there and they seem to like the uvb light i bought them with the rock.

BF-247 -- The larger turtle is either sizing up the comptition for the space in the tank or for food. If the bigger is large enough he will bit the tail, foot or head off if it wants to. Turtles are reptiles and if he can't mate with it or eat it he is not interested. They have no compunction about eating anoter turtle if he is hungry and can do it.

Blackforce- if your teacher won't take the smaller turtle, you NEED to separate them. With that large of a size difference, two turtles cannot safely live together, no matter how large the tank is. If you can't afford a second aquarium, buy a rubbermaid container for the larger one and use the 10 gallon tank you have for the smaller one.
I really can't stress enough, how dangerous it is for them to be together, especially since the larger one is already banging around the tank going after the smaller one.

ya i guess. since theres no signs of any harm against them 2 i decided to separate them. well its the best for now. i did buy the rubbermaid container but i leave it on my windowsill in the afternoon. at night i keep it in the box it came in is that still ok while leaving the smaler turtle inside the 10 gallon tank i have now?
