I am going to upgrade soon to a massive 240 gal tanks. Or something over 200 I know. And I am thinking about getting a pleco, but I hear they get really big. Will they eat my baby turt?
Plecos dont have teeth really all they have are those suckers on the end of their face - they really only eat algae and other waste like that. Plecos have spines and tougher skin plates to help protect them
Even if your turtle is a baby i would be more worried about your turtle eating your pleco then the other way around. I had a pleco in my tank for a good 8 months and then one day -poof- gone so squirt must have managed to eat it.
If you have/get a pleco that is larger then im sure it/your turtle will be fine but dont be surprised if your turtle takes chunks out of its fins etc. while its swimming by.
I plan on getting another smaller pleco that can hide in places my turtle can not get to and that may swim a bit faster then a larger one may - This is probably a good option too. Having a little cave or log with a hole or places for your pleco to hide from your turtle will be a good idea (just make sure your turt cant get stuck in these places!)
Hey - yeah squirt was the name he came with but more then likely what i would have named him anyways (yay finding nemo!) but if i decide to get anotherone i am going to name him Chomper. :0P
sheldon is cute - reminds me of the nerdy guy on the show TheBigBang Theory
