What kind of fish can be put in a turtle tank without them getting eaten? Or is that impossible?

There aren't any fish that a turtle won't eat. It's not impossible for the fish to survive, but it is unlikely that they won't ever become turtle food.

We have chiclids in our tank. They are aggressive enough that the turtles haven't taken them on yet, but they are small turtles still.

I have a small 2" hatchling (Curtis) so the Rosy Reds are too big for him. I bought 2 very pregnant female fancy guppies (Thelma & Louise) and 1 male. They had their babies (about 20). Some may have gotten sucked up during water changes, a few got sucked into the filter but the rest Curtis has eaten. There may be 4 or 5 babies still in the tank that he hasn't eaten yet. The females are very pregnant again and seem to be quicker than the male -he's recently been eaten(no wonder he was never given a name!).

I think it gives him something to do during the day when he's not basking.

my turtle used to eat the guppies that i put i the tank, but he has stopped eating... i'm not sure why tho... but i have big fish in with my turtle... like one is 16inches and another is 20 inches... and i have 6 four inch catfish... Lurch, my turt, only goes after the 16 and 20 inch fish tho...

i always wanted to buy an algae eater for my tank but opted against it b/c of the experience i have when i buy feeder fish. my two female turtles mostly ignored them (b/c one's too small and the other too lazy) and so did my male...for awhile. then one day outta the blue he went on a crazy fish killing spree (in which i happened to witness) and he slaughtered the 10 or so little fish that were in the tank. it was crazy!

None. All fish, no matter how big, will eventually be dinner in a turtle tank.

You can postpone their deaths (if you end up with intelligent fish) by giving them a number of hiding places where the turtle can't get to them.

I have feeder guppies in my tank that can out-swim my turtles. But I breed them myself from pet store feeder guppies.

Fact of life: turtles like and eat fish. It may take a while but they will get eaten. If the fish if much larger than the fish the turtle will nip at it a little at a time and eventually get it down. I had three feeder fish to last 6 months and have little ones and one day - Gone!!

I know Kevin's (Tendonara) turtles dont like fish. But when they die get ready for a compin'

I keep putting minnows (I'm trying guppies this time, but they are TINY)and he's gotten too good at catching them. but one always seems to survive. I can tell it's the same one cause it has a little mark on the side. It was one of the first minnows I put in! So far my turt hasn't gone after my pleco either, but I think he would if he didn't have any feeders to chase.
