my turtle has been rubbing up against the filter like he is trying to scratch his back for at least 10 minutes now and he is still doing it... i just want to know if that is normal or if there is something wrong with him... and i'm 100% sure that he isn't stuck there either cause he just went up to get some air and then went right back down to the filter... could he be trying to shed his sctues??

It could be that he is trying to shed his scutes, and they're itchy for him right now. Just keep an eye on him, make sure he doesn't rub the area raw, and make sure he can't knock the filter strainer off, because then he could get stuck.

LOL, they do that.

Sometimes Sheba likes it when I scratch the top of her shell with my hand....she will actually stand in one spot, "lift up" her butt & scootch back and forth. AHHHH!!! Scratching my back feels soooooo good! :)

LOL sheba!

Tiny does that, too! She sticks her butt in the air and shakes it. The first time I saw this was when I had a song playing on my computer and I was shocked for a few minutes.

lilusachick2006, Your turtle is probably shedding scutes and they itch and it's trying to get it off. I wouldn't worry, just make sure your filter doesn't have any spaces beside it where it can get stuck.
