General Care Discussion :: hmmm....the girls aren't growing

hey everyone. wow, i take a few months hiatus and don't recognize anyone who is posting anymore, lol. hope everyone is well.

anyway, my 2 big RES girls don't seem to be growing in the slightest. they were exactly 6" SCL when I got them, and are exactly 6" SCL now. I've had them well over a year.

Anyone else have females that just didn't get very big? I'm wondering if poor conditions before I got them could have stunted their growth this drastically.

after they hit about 4 or 5 inches they only grow a inch a year, so they are probably fine.

They may have hit their longest shell length.

My Sheba was 6" when I got her & always grew extremely slowly (even though she eats like a PIG). It took her several yrs before she hit 7" and another several before she hit 8". She is now at 9" in length & holding so I think she is finally done growing.

Turtley came from bad conditions too before i got him, and it had seemed like he had topped out at 5" SCL. Recently i measured him and he had grown 1/2" after at least a year of not growing at all. Your girls will probably just grow really slowly.
