Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have too many turtles (7) and am no longer able to care for all of them as most need to be separated from each other. If you can provide one or more a good home please contact me. Sizes range from about 4 inches to about 9 inches.
Thanks,
Pam

Very sorry to hear this. If you don't hear from anyone on the forums, you might try contacting the California Turtle & Tortoise Club www.tortoise.org There are different chapters for areas of your state. Good luck.

Thanks Marisa. Unfortunately there is not a chapter anywhere near me. We do have a turtle lady in the Sacramento area that people seem to really like but she says to just put them outside in kids pool and leave them out all night and they wil be fine. Then cover in the winter and they will hibernate right there. Am I an overprotective Mom or what? From everything I have read and trusted on these boards I do not trust leaving my turtles out at night both because of temperature drops and also predators. I have been so careful about temperatures and cleanliness and protecting from predators. I always bring in at night. I really love all of them but it it so much work having to keep separated. Only 2 of the smaller ones are able to be kept together. I thought the people on this board really are knowledgeable about how to properly care for them. Has anyone had success just putting them outdoors in a pond and keeping there day and night? Sorry for the long post!

You might see if they can send that info in their newsletter. A good story will also get your turtles some attention.

What do you mean send that info in their newsletter? I hate to disagree with a turtle lady expert but it seems from what I have learned here that you really need to be more protective of them. Appreciate any comments? I will continue to keep them if I do not find good homes but really would love to find someone who would love and care for some.
Thanks!

I kept my turts outside last summer in their stock tanks at night but covered the tanks with screens to keep out unwanted visitors (and mosquitoes). They were out during the summer months and well into September since the weather was warm (and on cooler nights the tanks were covered to keep the water temp steady). They have been coming in for the winter months, though.

I can empathize with your situation---the two EPs I had together need to each have their own set-ups, which means a separate set-up for each turtle I have. It is a lot of work (and I'm working with very little space), and at some point I might have to make a decision regarding keeping them all.
