my turtles look so bored lately........most of the times they sleep. was wondering if i put a small ball for them to push around would this be a good play thing for them or is it a bad idea?

Just make sure that they can't eat it or break parts of it off somehow. I tried a ping pong ball with one of my turtles once. She was scared of it at first and then ignored it. Maybe you'll have better luck with your turtles.
Are your turtles still eating and basking regularly? If they are too lethargic, it may be a sign of illness.

I have a ping pong ball, and a bouncy ball for Ashlee. When bored, she'll just start trying to bite them and chase them. I have a few plants too. She tends to bulldoze them and seems to have fun about it. I put a mirror in too, she stares at herself, and kinda flutters(natural in both genders).

When my turtle still lived inside, I gave him a floating baby's bathtub toy to push around. Now that he lives outside his activities include: basking, eating, shredding plants, chasing fish, hiding, more eating, more shredding, more basking, swimming, swimming, and swimming. he also has some large rocks in his pond that he likes to move around; try putting a large rock in your turtles' tank. Some turtles like scooting the rocks across the floor.
I used to be a reptile expert. Now I'm just an old turtle lover.

I put a large marble in Fred's tank, and he spends hours rolling it across the bottom of the tank. Unfortunately, it rolls into things I wish to remain stationary, but because he is determined to catch this marble, he bulldozes whatever is in the path of the marble. His turtle bubbler is always butt up in the air releasing bubbles from the rear rather than cheerfully gawping bubbles from it's mouth...even after I attached a suction cup to it.
