General Care Discussion :: Baby Chomper

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 2:18 pm   Baby Chomper

So i posted a while ago about some turtles these girls wanted to get rid of - - and i ended up with one - - After the baby (named chomper) being by itself in a 10gallon for 2 weeks i put him in the 40 breeder with Squirt - -
SO far so good! Squirt shows little to no interest in the baby - - No fluttering yet so i think things are going to work out well. I know aggression can start at any time so ill keep an eye out.

Here are pictures - -
The yellow "habitat" is what the baby has lived in before i got him
(This is what they sell them in down in china town) $10 is what they paid for the turtle and the container

Aww, they're so cute!

I'd be very leery of putting them together just because of the size differences. Tenodera recently had an event where the bigger one chomped up a baby and killed it (granted the bigger one was much bigger), and it looks like Squirt could take off the baby's head in one fell chomp (pun).

What a precious little turtle! So glad that you took him in, that little plastic box is so sad! I agree with Nettle, the size difference makes me a little nervous.

S/he's a cutie. The plastic container is affectionately known as a "death bowl," so it's good he's out of it. The size difference is to great for him to be kept with the larger turtle, though. Can you take some of that wad of cash and get him his own set-up until he's bigger?
