Exactly how many gallons is big? Most tubs are too small to used for bringing your turtle outside.

It's like a small kiddie pool but I only want it for sunning them... not water
They r only 2 inches in size, I stay right with them...

The plastic surface will heat up quickly... make sure you can closely monitor the temperatures.

You might put down some light towels/cloth down on the surface of the tub, it will keep the surface from heating up as quickly.

You're going to stay outside with them all the time? How long to keep them outside would depend on the time of day and how much direct sun they'd be getting.

Well I listened to you all and then decided instead of using the plastic I got a nice big but low cardboard box shaded on one end and they love it, Walk all around and I put a nice rock to climb upon to just bask and they were sooo funny one sat on top of the other and just basked their little hearts out I set a wide stainless steel thing over the top in case of a bird like a oven rack it was perfect. I do it in the a.m. B4 noon so not so hot, Or after 2p.m. same reason
should I set a large dish of H20 in also at far end?

We do need a little sun - and for much the same reason turtles do!
