hey everybody i bought a thermometer to measure the temperature of the heat comeing from my uvb light and my heat lamp.

for those of you turtle owners who own a red heat lamp what is the right temperature the heat should be at? im not sure if thats suppose to be 90 f or the area where the uvb florencent light should be at. please anyone can you tell me what the temperature for the florecent uvb light should be and the red bulb heat lamp i have should be at?

The fluorescent bulb won't give off enough temperature to bother measuring. The heat bulb AND fluorescent should be pointed over the basking area and should be between 90-95 degrees, depending on your turtle's preference.

The other important temperature you should be monitoring is the water temps. These are independent of the basking temps and you shouldn't assume your basking bulb will make a significant effect on your water. Your water temps should be around 76 degrees for an adult turtle.

mines a baby what should the water temp be at? keep in mind having cichlids in the tank?

For little turtles, the temp on the basking area where the UVB and heat light bulbs are both pointed should be around 90 degrees fahrenheit. The water temp should be around 78 degrees fahrenheit. I don't know about a good temp for cichlids.
