hey everyone just a couple of questions... i am kinda of getting worried for my baby RES(todo) i hve been watching him for days now i and never see him eat.. im feed him shrimp and turtle pellets? another thing is he is always basking like 90% of the time and for a odd reason today i seen him of his dock and floating in the water which was odd for me cuz i usually dont see him in the water. it looked like he was just floating there so i had to tap him to see if he was alive still and he was. iv been noticing wheni see him swim around in the tank he opens and closes his mouth while hes swimming is that a sign of anything? another question and the last question lol is he only goes swimming for about two minutes and then he will go straight back to his dock to bask but he floats at the end of his dock and i notice him doing a snapping motion with his mouth? it looks like he wants to attack something , now im just wondering could there be something stuck in his throat thats causin him to look like hes going to regererate? any suggestions or help would be great!!! thanks

What's the water temperature?

Another question - are his eyes swollen or irritated looking, or does he seem to be trying to rub his eyes?

When he swims, does it look like he's having trouble submerging, or does he seem to be swimming lopsided?

Finally, how long have you had Todo?

Are you finding the food that he didn't eat on the bottom of the tank? Are you sure he isn't eating when you aren't looking? I know my turtle likes to leave some left over food so he has a snack to look for later.

the water temp is at about 78 to 80 f his eyes do not look irritated or swollen at at but at time hell have one eye open and one eye closed lol. i never see him rubbing his eyes at all and when he submerges he doesnt have any trouble that i can see of or even swimming lopsisded. i think i answer all your questions ohh yeah hes about two weeks old but i find which is wierd when he swims he usually stop and sometimes closes his eyes and floats? everytime he does that i think hes dead and it scares me so i tap him to make sure and he continues swimming but when do they do that swim for a bit stop float act like their dead with eyes close and then continue swimming.. so acward lol thanks again for you help

sounds like it's is tireing out to much, put resting spots in the water close to surface, Fake plants suction soap dishes from Kmart ect...It is so young, Mine got tired alot at first too. Also DO NOT put water deep...Only 2x's the length of it's shell so in case he lands in H20 upside down it can flip over. Baby turts in ponds stick close to the edges in all the water plants.
