Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So, exams are over and I got into university so Im pretty much free to do whatever i want. Anyways enough about me. This is just an update on my unnamed res(cant think of a name) Anyways hes been doing great. He still lives in a rubbermaid container but hes not scared of my anymore. Hes curious of what I will give him when i come by. I often take him out to play with and have brought him outside. I don't think he enjoyed it tho because he kept on trying to get back in. I have recently bought little guppies and have begun breeding them. I fed him one of them one and watched (I was very curious at the outcome) and it turns out the turtle gets outsmarted by the fish because the fish swims circles around him.

I believe he is a male but im not sure i'll try to find my camera tmr and post pictures. Err, forgot to change the profile hes probably about 3-4 inches now. I celebrated his birthday (now his actual birthday, but when i got him) His claws(!?!?!!? dont kno if its right) are growing to be long. I often hear them clatter along the side of the container and it drives me crazy sometimes that i have to yell across the room for him to stop.

You won't be able to tell if he is a male or female until he is 4" SCL.

give it time...at first I thought my little Sylar wasn't much of a hunter because it seemed he could not keep up with the rosey reds, :P ....until one day he ate 6 of them, and 4 more the next day! *PS* I'm not advocating feeding them in those quantities, I only put that many in there because I didn't think he could could catch them that quickly!!!

With reference to the sex, when you post pictures, aside from the nails, try to get one of the tail, preferably the underside showing the cloaca (anal vent). The sex of my male RES was evident when his shell length was around 3.5 inches. :)
