Hi everyone,

I am going to buy a mercury vapor bulb tomorrow...but I am not sure which watt size I need? My RES is a little over 4 inches..

Thanks!

What size tank do you have?

That is a big determining factor in wattage.

Alright, get a 100 watt. You want the flood style rather than spot. Spot is too concentrated.

I recently upgraded to a 55 gallon and got this lamp. I LOVE it and so does Izzy!

What are the bulbs that were causing all the damage to the turts eyes?

kiwi1712, you also have the T-Rex Active UV Heat MVB to consider. The T-Rex and Mega Rays are considered to be better than the Powersuns. You do want a 100-watt flood type.

maryR, a number of compact flourescent UVB lights had been found to cause eye problems. Reptisun (10.0 and 5.0) was arguably the most popular brand, and therefore seems to have caused most of the problems. If you search, there are some threads on the topic.
