I've been using my python for over a year with no problems, until this morning. I pulled it out, and the entire length of it is spotted with what appears to be mildew. What in the world do I do now? Should I worry about using it to refill the tank?

If it's really bad, you could try running some water to get the interior wet and then letting some very diluted bleach go through it. Run water through it again and rinse it well.

Try to let all the water drain out of it after using it (hard to do).

You can also tie a thin rag to a long string and run it through to clean. Run the string through the tube and then pull the rag through to remove the mildew. I would soak in a bleach solution before that as marisa suggests.

ive been trying to figure out some way to dry my python out after i use it. ive toyed with the idea of hooking a small fan to it to cycle the air through but cant figure out a way to do it

That happened to mine too. I use it first to drain the tank and that usually gets any of the loose bits out before I reverse it to fill.

Yikes! If the above ideas don't work, I'd fish something (like paper towels) through the tubes to clean them out.
