so today i was playing around with my turtle giving his usual 'breakfast' and what i noticed was that when i put my finger up against the glass Squirtle would do the mating thing with my finger. And i 'm wondering is that normal??

Often you can confuse the mating fluttering with the aggression fluttering with the begging dance. Generally in respect to human fingers, turtles are doing the begging dance.

It's perfectly normal, so don't worry about it. It is encouraged to spend time interacting with your turtle other than just food time so that the begging dance doesn't happen every time you come over, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
