Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

is water conditioner necessary. i hear that the only problem with chlorine is that it can hurt their eyes and i don't know if thats true or not. i know my town has very clean tap water but i also know that they do add chlorine to it.
we will be moving on august 11 to a new house that is on a well so this will no longer be an issue but until then this would be good info to have especially as im going to start feeding in a separate container and i don't want to be conditioning the water every night.

It is necessary to rid the water of its chlorine. Depending on how much chlorine the town puts in your water, it may cause your turtles to rub their eyes, or even make their eyes swell.

There are 2 ways you can get rid of the chlorine. The first is to use a dechlorinator (or water conditioner). The second is to let the water to sit over night, and the chlorine with evaporate.

As for feeding is a separate container, I think most people take the feeding water right from the tank. This way, it's already treated, and it's the same temperature as the tank water.

It's mainly necessary if you use bio media in your filter. And as BullDog mentions, too much chlorine can irritate. I've stopped using a dechlorinator and have had no negative side effects.

Chlorine is a much bigger problem for fish. It will kill fish pretty quickly if left in the water. For turtles, it can be an irritant.

I don't know how your water is treated in Malaysia, but as long as your water isn't treated with chlorine, you can use it as is. If it is treated, you can either leave it out for 24 hours or use a conditioner. You should still remove the chlorine if it's present even without bio media because it will irritate their eyes (causing swelling, which apparently has been a problem with one of your new babies). Just let the water sit in an open container for about 24 hours and then add to your tank.

I think the water at my place all treated with chlorine, since I live in apartment and of course the water supply to building use the chlorine for daily use.

Hehe.. yeah my baby do have sick eyes earlier but now she is getting better and I can see already open her eyes as usual and eat well.

No, then you would use some since chlorine might harm the beneficial bacteria that colonizes in the bio media.
